Audit Schedule
Approximately eleven States are scheduled for audits each year.
The schedule is developed by evaluating several weighted criteria such as years since last audit, total apportioned funds received, use of in-kind match, and use of funds for land acquisition. Other factors such as availability of auditee staffs, distribution of workload among USFWS Regions, or auditor staffing needs may play a role in identifying the actual timing and order of each audit.
0IG managers contact each State to determine an audit schedule that will ensure dates of fieldwork are acceptable, provide an assessment of time requirements expected, and determine availability of the auditee staff.
